Ins and Outs

A homeowner should feel comfortable and safe with their home.  A thorough understanding of how the house works can be gained with the help of a certified home inspector.  Whether you are buying, selling, or are an existing homeowner, a home inspection can provide you with the opportunity to familiarize yourself with the ins and outs of your house.

Inspector John took these pictures during a routine home inspection.  You can see why most of us will never see the dark depths of our crawl spaces without the aid of a professional.  When buying a home we usually don't think to look in these areas, but it is as important to have inspected as the rest of the house.

This chimney is a perfect example of the importance of a home inspection.  From the ground everything may look fine, but from BHI's perspective we can see that the chimney is missing it's crown.  Without a crown all the wrong parts are exposed to outdoor elements.  This requires immediate attention to prevent further damage.  Had no inspection been performed, the new homeowners could have had an unpleasant surprise.

Inside this attic a bird nest was found.  For safety and health reasons it is extremely important to have a professional remove the nesting materials.  Having any type of animal or insect intrusion into a home can cause a possible health concern.

It can be difficult to know for sure whether there may or may not be trouble spots with a roof unless someone takes a look.  For your safety, an experienced inspector should be considered to tackle this job.

When all the conditions are just right, even a shingled roof top can support the needs of fungi.
