Inspection Eyes

During the winter and hot summer months, a lot of our time is spent indoors.  Dust and disease are always trying their hardest to survive in our personal space.  Mold spores and dust debris can invade our air and make us sick.  A good way to start improving the air quality in our homes is to replace the furnace filter with a hypo-allergenic filter.  They cost a little more, but you will be pleased with the results.

Is your air quality still getting you down?  BHI offers mold testing, radon testing, carbon monoxide and other combustible gas leak detection.

Air ducts need to be inspected every now and again.  It is a good idea to make this job a part of your spring cleaning or before shutting your house up for winter.  Taking a few moments to peek inside your air ducts is a good way to ensure that your family is breathing clean, fresh air.

The picture to the right is what an extremely dirty air duct looks like.  This debris can make it's way through the vents and into the air you breath.  A pprofessional air duct cleaning service should be called to remove this type of mess.

The epa.gov is an excellent source of air quality information to help you research any environmental issue you may have.

This little rodent could easily have created a house fire from this electrical panel.  Have BHI inspect your electrical system so you don't have to put up with unwelcomed guests.

Did you know termites can live through the cold winter months?  They can and will if there is a moisture source and wood to eat.  Be careful when storing wood piles for the fireplace.  They should be kept as far from structures as possible.

If you're not sure whether you are sharing your house with Wood Destroying Insects, give us a call and have our inspector take a look.

When repairs are made they should be fixed correctly.  Saving a buck is nice, but if the job isn't done right the first time the damage could end up costing you more than you saved.

Always do research when attempting to do the job yourself.  Follow all guidelines and instructions, do NOT cut corners.  Any confusion or questions should be discussed with a professional.
